The International Social Science Council (ISSC) has chosen Bergen to be the venue of the first World Social Science Forum, 10th -12th May 2008.  There will be over 24 parallel sessions dealing with contemporary issues in the social sciences and the keynote address Challenges for the Social Sciences in the New Century’ will be given by Amartya Sen.

Programme director Christopher Hood will be speaking on the panel, ’Rankings and Reactions: The Comparative Politics of International Rankings’ .
